Carolyn Green Hobbs is a 1957 graduate of Gibbs Senior High School. She is a native of St. Petersburg and, as she tells it, grew up “practically next door to Gibbs”. At Gibbs, she was an outstanding soloist in the acclaimed St. Cecelia Choir. From there she went onto excel in musical studies at Howard University where she was exposed to and participated in many musical experiences. Her passion and continued connections to her roots led her back to St. Petersburg where she became active in both her church and her community. Hobbs became a founding member of the Alumni singers, a community chorale formed from the nucleus of the St. Cecelia Choir.

Hobbs also serves as president of the Gibbs High School Class of 1957. As a founding member of the committee to establish the Gibbs High School History Museum, she brings her love for both Gibbs and the community in which Gibbs sits. She also brings invaluable lived experience as well as collective memory to many of the artifacts the museum is collecting.
